About Us

Who created this website? A woman with breast cancer and an attitude.

Ann F talks about Healthy behaviorsAlthough this Project began as Ann Fonfa's personal answers to questions (video) on natural(CAM) therapies, it has become a nationally recognized organization, and is now a nonprofit corporation in the state of Florida. (May 23, 2003)and tax exempt, 501 (c)3 as of August, 2003. We are located at 7319 Serrano Terrace, Delray Beach, FL 33446-2215. (561) 749-0084 Best means of contact is email:  annieappleseedpr@aol.com This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

From its inception the Annie Appleseed Project decided to Challenge the Existing treatment paradigm, to Question the existing research methods and subjects, and to Propose new directions for both ending with true Integrative Oncology. Thus the program name Cheqpt, designed to bring complementary, alternative therapies to the mainstream as soon as may be, while serving as a place where all ideas are scrutinized.

About 90,000 visitors see our site monthly, and thousands have heard Ann Fonfa, and other of our volunteer advocates speak at various meetings around the world.
Other people with cancer (all volunteers) have gotten involved and produced reports on treatment responses, clinic visits, meetings attended and much more. We now offer financial support to advocates who attend meetings, write reports, hand out our brochures, etc. We need your support to continue to represent the people who use complementary or alternative cancer therapies. Things have improved over the years since we began this work, but it still comes down to each individual with her or his medical team. And insurance does not yet cover CAM.

HOME SWEET` HOME`

HOME SWEET HOME

Recently after two years of living in Mexico, I visited the states.  I am from Florida and lived there all my life until two years ago.  It was nice to visit with all my family and friends, but I know why I left now.  You do not know what is normal until you go back and experience what was.  Being in Mexico, Dan and I have been healing our bodies with less stress.

Going back, Dan wanted to drive, for here in Mexico we take a taxi everywhere.  Well, Dan’s stress level went way up and after two days of driving, he remembered why he did not want to drive any more.  It’s real fast pace and going back, it reminded us of why we left in the first place.  Everyone thinks that Mexico is dangerous, but it is not anywhere near the crime rate in the US.  I welcome anyone to come and experience it for themselves.  The area that Dan and I live in is Chapala area and there are many Americans and Canadians that live here.  I have been in this area for two years and have not spoken Spanish.  This is much like the Spanish people going to the U.S. and not speaking any English.  You see it works both ways.

It’s always great to come home to your own bed and surroundings.  Dan and I have made Hotel Perico our home for now.  It’s like a community of friendships that last a life time.  When we got back we were greeted by our neighbors here with open arms.  This is a great feeling to have from both worlds.

Going back to my home town, where there were many treasured memories gave me an opportunity to express to my family and friends how humble I am for their support and love.  There were so many highlights to the trip.  The number one was seeing Dan’s face light up when he saw our daughter’s wedding dress that she picked out.  This was priceless.  I was able to spend the three days she came down for, to join us with happy memories.  My daughter and her husband to be are on a shuffleboard team up north. In St. Pete., we went to watch them play at the first and original U.S. court. Other highlights were taking my mother out to dinner, her choice and celebrating her 80th birthday.  Another was when I had lunch with my Countryside Surgery Girls, Their support and friendship will last a life time.  The hugs and seeing them with the book I wrote that they purchased and brought for me to autograph was priceless.

I have to thank all my family and friends for all their love.

OPEN CIRCLE

OPEN CIRCLE
Last Sunday Dan and I decided to wake up early to go to the Open Circle here in Ajijic.  We have been planning this for a while, but something always seems to pop up and never have made it to the event.  This takes place every Sunday at 10:00 a.m.  Every Sunday there is a topic regarding body, soul and mind.  I am thinking of doing a talk on my journey of completion there.

Well, this week it was a fabulous topic and everyone could learn by it.  ARE YOU IN PAIN?  To sum this up ~ pain tells you that something is wrong and you can heal it without drugs and knives.  It’s about pain release therapy, a new understanding of pain and paradigm shift in pain therapy.
Most important is to know that pain occurs primarily as a warning and not as a result of damaged tissue.  Pain tells us to stop using the body in ways that are harmful.  It sees pain as a result of imbalanced musculo-skeletal structure resulting in tension, contraction, spasms, squeezed nerves and finally shortening of muscles.  The causes are mostly habits of wrong body posture (computers, too much sitting, inactivity), repetitive movements, over strain or old traumas with the result favoring one part of the body.  If there is no correction, then painful contractions and adhesion of muscles and connective tissue develop.

I invite you to go if you are ever in this area of Mexico.  Dan and I enjoyed being there and it was uplifting for its meditating and learning about oneself.

As we were leaving the event, down the road near the town square I ran across this dog that was dyed pink.  The first thing that I thought was, this would be great for breast cancer awareness month.  It made me think on how important my passion is to educate people on choices other than surgery, chemo or radiation.  KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!!

We all need to stand together and during cancer awareness months show and honor the people that passed on with other ways of managing cancer.  The first step is life change. If you know anyone with cancer remember there is hope.  There are creative personalized programs which are customized for each patient, helping them to fight their cancer their way. Make an inquiry to see how we can help you find the right alternative cancer treatments for your situation.  Personal Counselor contact today at 727 399-7850 US or contact me at e-mail leftmoon@aol.com or check out www.thejourneytogoodhealth.com.

You can get a free consultation from Dr. Perez that will spend time explaining the program that would be best for you.

Enjoy life and make the fullest of your day.

FAT TUESDAY

FAT TUESDAY

Fat Tuesday is the traditional name for the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent. It is more commonly known as Mardi-Gras, which is simply Fat Tuesday in French. It gets its name from the custom, in many Catholic countries, of marking the day with feasting before the fasting season of Lent begins.

Here in Ajijic for the traditional parade they throw instead of beads; baking flour or confetti.

Last Tuesday Dan and I went to the organic market and on our way back we stopped at this organic coffee shop in the heart of Ajijic.  Oh, no we were right in the middle of all the excitement.  It was around 10:00 in the morning and baking flour everywhere, along the parade route.  Never the less, we ended up with flour all over us.

Check out the pictures that I took of the parade…
