CAJITITLAN

CAJITITLAN

Two weeks ago our friend Tom took us on a day trip to explore this town and around the area. Experienced much more then the surroundings; such as the food. Check out the movie of our day.

Cajititlán Laguna Lake was part of the great state of Jalisco in Mexico. It is located in the municipality of Tlajomulco de Zuniga in the metropolitan area 25 minutes from peripheral Guadalajara on the road to Chapala.

The meaning of the name comes from the Nahuatl Cajititlán root "caxitl" meaning bowl, bowl, gourd or recipiente.

The lake has a variety of fish among which are, crappie, carp, chub, tilapia, popocha among others. Here it is permitted to fish , measuring 3 inches as the minimum unit. The lagoon is a depth of 4 meters on average, expanding to a great length, and with a great tradition of each village adjacent to the lagoon.

In Cajititlán it is celebrated the feast of the Holy Kings, January 6th ,several hundred people from all over the world come to see crafted figures ride a boat in the lagoon Cajititlán. The people bring their children ,who range from the largest to infant to see Melchor the King with the white beard along with the two other kings.
